THE DAY OF THE CHRISTMAS OUTREACH PARTY ARRIVED!
From the moment of our arrival in Manchester, the wonderful spirit of cooperation went into action. As long as I live I will never forget the loving spirit of the people. Volunteers tirelessly worked long hours unloading trucks and setting up the gym at Clay County High School. This year the clothing ministry was located in a building that Rev. Ken Bowling of the Manchester Baptist Church allowed us to use. The building was perfectly suited to handle the large amount of clothes, shoes, hats, scarves, coats etc. The building even had the convenience of a loading dock for the tractor trailers. Isn't that just like God! What was so great is that people had the opportunity to receive items at the clothing ministry location the day of the party, but also throughout the Christmas season. They had time to get just the right outfits for their children and family.
This year was very significant in that Doug Adams, Clay County School Superintendant, was one of our speakers. For the supporters who have followed previous projects you understand the importance of his participation. Doug's daughter was a methamphetamine addict who got saved and delivered witnessed to her father. Her father got saved and now allows a Bible study before and after school named "First Priority."
The music was exciting as Kevin Rice, a nationally known artist, along with his band sang to the Glory of God. His music ministered across generational lines.
CAN YOU BELIEVE WE SHUT DOWN THE TOWN THE DAY OF THE PARTY? We are proud to report this was the highest attended Christmas Outreach. Roads were blocked - people began arriving the day before the Christmas party. As we observed the crowd, many stated we won't have enough. The God we serve always supplies the need and JUST LIKE GOD -we had leftovers! It was estimated that we served 7500 people. GLORY TO GOD!
It is important that you as a supporter (or possibly considering supporting this project) understand that ministry with the people of Manchester and Clay County began in May 2007. Relationships were established. Confidence was built. Physical needs met. Lots and lots of PRAYER both with the people and for the people. If you truly in your heart want to make a difference in the world - donate to the Appalachian Mission Project. Maybe you can consider remembering a loved one on their birthday or in memory of a loved one by making a financial contribution.
We pray you will join us on this exciting, life-changing journey!
